The 411 On Getting A Student Debt Consolidation Loan

April 6th, 2008

Rising tuition fees have given rise to students having to take student loans. However, these high student loans give a high impact on the day to day lives of the students. This gives rise to difficult financial situations for the student during and after their studies. This is the reason students turn to student debt consolidation loan to rid themselves of the burden of the student loans.

Student debt consolidation loan means having the multiple student loans replaced with a single loan with a lower monthly payment scheme to be paid over a longer repayment period. Though a student debt consolidation loan is beneficial, it is important to know its pros and cons before signing up for one. The huge students’ loans have an impact on your future decisions and on your credit history. So make it a point to have your student loan debt not exceed 8% of your income to get a good credit history.

There are many types of student loans, but the most common student loans are the private and federal loans. It is not advisable to go in for student debt consolidation loan by mixing these two loans together. Instead, it is better to consolidate the federal student loans and then the private loans, separately. This is because when consolidating both these kinds of loans, the federal loan benefits will all be lost.

For one to be eligible for consolidating his/her student loans, it is important that the person is no longer enrolled in a school. The person should also be repaying the debt or at least be in the grace period of the loan. Through student debt consolidation loan, instead of making multiple payments to all your lenders, there is only one debt consolidation company to whom you have to make your payments. It is the job of this company to pay off your lenders. Interest rates are lowered as the debt consolidation is a second mortgage, which has lower interest rates. Lower interest rates lead to lower monthly payments. And with only one payment, the monthly installment will be lower too. As you only have to pay a single person, all clarifications can be made through only one person instead of approaching all your lenders.

All things have their share of good things and bad points. There is always a chance of falling into more debt with student debt consolidation loan. This is because there is only one payment to be made, with more money remaining at the end of the month. This may prompt you to use your credit cards and spend money again. Student debt consolidation programs take a long time to cover, so you will be spending a good number of years repaying the loan. Moreover, though the interest rate of the student debt consolidation loan is low, over the long loan period, you will actually be spending more than you would have spent if you had retained the individual loans.

As consolidation loans are secured loans, you stand a chance of losing whatever you keep as security if you don’t repay the loan. So it can be seen that though student debt consolidation loan is beneficial, it also has its drawbacks. It is up to the individual to decide whether to opt for student debt consolidation loan or not.

The Author Within

The Author Within

Just about every marketer on the Internet claims to be the best
around and will lead you to believe that no one else knows as
much or can teach you as quickly and thoroughly as they can. It
would seem that they erroneously assume that by admiring someone
else’s teachings they will lessen their marketability as the
“great persuader” in salesmanship.

In truth, while they may not admit it publicly, every marketer
studies the technique or style of others on a continuing basis.
I’ll be the first to admit that I seek out, read and revise my
methods of copywriting thanks to the best of the best. And I
have discovered that even perfection is often flawed.

We are in an age where videos, movies, television, radio and
computer games scream for our attention. They produce more
information than anybody can possibly retain. Therefore, if I
want to hold someone’s attention, make a written offer that
compels them to read to the last line and reach for their wallet
— then I must learn to outshine my competition and dazzle my
readers.

If you think back, I’m sure you remember times when you were
reading something so mesmerizing that you never heard the phone
ring, or if you did you didn’t answer it. So absorbed were you
that you didn’t realize where an hour had gone… or, held up a
halting hand when someone attempted to interrupt you with a
question. Yeah, I’ve been there too. And that’s exactly the kind
of writing that I’m talking about.

Irresistible writing rivets your eyes to the page. Words are so
clear, so concise that the effect is hypnotic… and you remember
what you have read because it is unforgettable. The only place
to learn this is from the “proven experts”.

Going back many years, I remember radio programs that my
grandmother listened to daily. These were no more than half-hour
serials like “Porsha Faces Life”, and there was always a crisis
at the end of the daily broadcast that left you hanging. “Tune
in tomorrow and answer the question - how will Porsha react to
the news that blah, blah, blah?”

In today’s novel writings, each chapter will leave you with a
similar “cliff-hanger”, something untold that will stir your
curiosity. A good piece of fiction will not allow you to stop
between chapters, and a top-notch one will forbid you to stop
until the end.

Now then — if you can write an advertisement, article, or
eBook preview that will stir the curiosity of your reader
without giving them the whole story… if the “cliff-hanger”
compels them to fill out a form, send you an email, or sign up
for a free trial, you have discovered the author inside you.

Living Skills: Mindfulness and Letting Go

April 6th, 2008

Living skills are skills that help you to live your life better. Unfortunately, living skills are often not taught or emphasized in schools. Thus, most people acquire living skills from the “school of hard knocks” - through experiences in life.

There are many living skills. Two of the most important and useful skills are mindfulness and letting go.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is effective in noting the arising of our thoughts and in recognising the contents of our thoughts and beliefs. It is particularly useful in changing the self limiting beliefs we have that is preventing us from unlimited possibilities. Since changing these unconscious self limiting beliefs requires that we first identify them, mindfulness plays a crucial role in this identification process.

When we are mindful of the thoughts and beliefs in our mind, we can then work on replacing limiting beliefs with wholesome and life-enhancing ones.

How can we increase our mindfulness? We can do that through meditation.

Meditation, when done on a regular basis, increases our mindfulness and allow us to gradually peel away layers upon layers of negative mental and emotional imprints, and creating rooms for new positive and life-enhancing beliefs and imprints. This process is often compared to peeling the layers of an onion. Some compared it to tending a garden.

Another way for us to identify our self limiting beliefs is through the Option Method, which was created and introduced in New York City around 1970 by Bruce DiMarsico.

Bruce had studied psychology and philosophy. Years later, while working as a psychotherapist and human relations consultant, he developed the Option Method as a self-help tool for people to become happier in their everyday lives. Option Method uses a series of questions to help you identify and clarify what exactly is bothering you. The questions that follow then expose the belief behind your emotion or bad feeling. As the questions open the door to your heart, your true feelings will become evident.

Letting Go

The ability to let go complements mindfulness. Mindfulness allows us to be aware of our negative thoughts, beliefs and feelings. With the awareness and insights we can then let go of them.

Since we spend almost every waking hours seeking, acquiring, grasping and clinging on to things, we have the tendency to resist letting go. In fact, most people find it extremely difficult to let go of anything and particularly of feelings and beliefs. This is because we have learned to identify our feelings and beliefs as ourselves. We think we are our feelings and beliefs. Thus we fight and struggle to keep these feelings and beliefs in an effort to preserve our SELF, regardless of whether they are useful or harmful to us.

One method of letting go is through mindfulness itself. When we are aware of our negative thoughts and feelings, which often hide in our subconscious mind, we can then decide to let them go. So mindfulness and letting go come hand-in-hand.

Another method of letting go unwanted feelings is to actually allow ourselves to feel the negative feelings, and then ask ourselves three important questions:

1. Could I let it go?
2. Would I let it go?
3. When?

The answer to the first question is always a “Yes”. We can always let go of anything, even long standing and major mental and emotional imprints.

The second question is more personal. “Would I let it go?” is intended to give yourself the permission to let it go. For some people, it may take a while to give a “Yes” answer to this question. It is perfectly alright. In fact, this step cannot be rushed so take your time. You need to convince yourself (and no one else) and when you are ready and willing, then say “yes” to it. In some cases, going through and completing the forgiveness process is essential to finally allow yourself to let go.

The last question, “When?” gives you a time frame. The best time is of course “NOW” but this again depends on whether you are mentally and emotionally ready to let go. It is perfectly alright to choose a time that is most appropriate for you.

This method that I have just described was created by Lester Levenson and is now called the Sedona Method.

I’m Saving To Get My Gold Sports-Star Necklace!

April 6th, 2008

You see them go up to bat, their gold necklaces glistening in the sun.

You see them after the basketball game being interviewed on television, their gold necklaces glistening in the lights.

Last night I watched Dwyane Wade being interviewed by David Letterman. He was dressed pretty casual. No gold necklace dangling from his neck. Then he turned his head. He had a huge gem glistening from his left ear lobe.

On the sports field, every team member is dressed the same. There is no way to show that you are a millionaire by your dress. Even the umpires and referees look better than you do. Of course everybody knows that the referees and umpires are not millionaires so they are not the problem.

Bill Gates does not have to have a gold necklace dangling from his neck. Everybody knows he has more millions than a camel has hairs.

Paris Hilton and Paul McCartney could walk around naked in the town park in Podunk, Iowa and everybody would know that they are millionaires.

But how can you tell if a sports star is a millionaire? Well, you look for his gold necklace.

Just seeing the necklace will tell you the income bracket of the star. If it is a chain that could hold a circus elephant like some of the big basketball players wear, the guy is loaded.

I noticed in Italy that guys driving Ferraris and Lamborghinis wore gold necklaces.

I could tell they were rich. The ladies with them put their noses in the air as they walk past me even though I was dressed in my best business suit. When you see that happen, you know the guy is really rich.

By the way, when you are in Italy and you walk out of the hotel and there is a guy carefully wiping a bird spot off his Ferrari with a silk handkerchief, don’t say anything at all. He sure as hell will not answer you if you say, “Nice car!”

I want to show my lost wealth since I don’t have wealth. I spent it in different ways. My boys all lived in foreign countries for a couple of years and went to college for eight years. Some then had internships. The same applied to my son-in-law. So, my money had a place and it wasn’t in investments.

But I did make my million. I just spent most all of it. And I want everybody to know that I could be a millionaire if I had saved some dough.

That’s why I’ve got to have a gold necklace.

A diamond earring is out. My wife would never put up with me have a diamond earring and my grandkids would think I was a freak.

Now I didn’t mean that I think that a man with an earring is a freak. Certainly not if he has a .350 batting average or shoots 15 baskets and 12 foul shots every game while getting 13 blocks.

I went to http://www.bluenile.com and chose the 18 carat gold Byzantine Necklace. It cost only $700.00. I was thrilled at the low price.

It would have cost more if it were 24 carat but it would not be durable enough for me when I’m out looking at my two horses. Who knows? I might be tempted to mount one of those beauties some day. I’ve lost 25 pounds on my Big Fat John diet so anything is possible.

I checked the bowl where I stash my change at night. Not much in there. But then I remembered that my wife takes the change from the bowl and put it in those little paper things you get at the bank for pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. I found her stash.

WOW!

I don’t need to buy that necklace after all. We’re rich!
