Apple Mobile Phones with Free Line Rental

January 31st, 2009

Did you know that it’s quite possible to acquire a mobile phone absolutely free withfree line rental? This means that you will be given a free cell phone handset with free inclusive text messages and free inclusive minutes without paying a penny for them!Right about now your bound to be wondering if this is a bum offer, but you can rest assured this is for real! The way to be successful is to play mobile retailers at their own game. You see, mobile phone stores sell free line rentla mobile phones simply to get prosepective customers through the door. Before they attach lots of strings to the packages to reduce the numbers of people that actually take out and correctly order a 12 month free line rental offer. The way free line rental promotions operate is that you sign a mobile contract in the normal manner, and make sure they pay the bill as usual. Then, at pre set dates within the 12 months of the mobile contract you are able to make a claim for cash back. At this time the store which sold you the cell phone sends you a cheque. Normally around three different claims need to be made before you get back 100% of the cost of your mobile. Now, the vendors ensure the process of getting your money back quite tricky, as they stipulate you provide phone bills (which may be lost). They dictate particular dates for the claim (which you may not remember) and put in place various other loopholes and barriers. This is why you have to be smart and beat them at their own game!Read the contract, write down the dates, keep the paperwork and put your claim in punctual and you have every chance of gettinga cell phone cost free for a full 12 months! The reality is that the shops don’t mind giving away some of these mobile handsets free of charge as it makes for a good publicity for them. Being in a position to push “free cellular telephones” heightens the standing of their business, and, as they recognise just a handful of people will jump past all the clauses needed to acquire a free line rental deal, it does not really cost them that much!A free line rental mobile offer may not be the best choice for everyone as you have to be prepared and make sure you finish all the tasks of the claim correctly, but, a 12 months free line rental mobile is definately something worth considering if you are price aware.

Is NBC’s Reality Show ‘Meet Mr. Mom’ Out Of Touch With Reali

January 27th, 2009

Is the latest reality series from NBC, “Meet Mr. Mom” out of touch with reality?

NBC describes the show this way. “Each week, moms from two different families are surprised with a luxury vacation, while the dads are left to manage their chaotic households. The results are funny, heartwarming and something every busy family can relate to!”

“The show did not reflect MY state of fatherhood, but I think it did portray what the majority of moms would tell you their spouse is like,” says Jim Morey, a father of four in Huntington Beach, Calif., in an interview with http://www.InteractiveDadMagazine.com.

But he says the fathers on the show clearly don’t reflect the lives of all dads. And certainly not his.

“This was not a valid portrayal of what a challenge it is to be involved with your kids and help your wife around the house on a daily basis - AFTER you get home from your job that pays the bills!” says Morey.

“Meet Mr. Mom”, the new reality series from NBC, has two fathers taking on their wives’ roles. In the premier episode Tuesday night, the moms were removed from the homes while the dads were left to fend for themselves.

Both dads were surprised at what it takes to do what their spouses do. And they seemed overwhelmed with the chores.

Morey, who’s been married 14 years, says he’s a very proud to say he’s an actively involved dad, unlike the fathers spotlighted in the NBC show.

He’s an Information Technology (IT) specialist. He says his employer is very family-friendly and allows him to work a schedule that enables him to be home by 2:30pm to spend quality time with his children. It also provides a break for his wife who stays at home.

“I have always tried to relieve my wife from the kids once I get home by getting the kids outdoors playing something with me,” says Morey. Usually he plays softball.

His children range in age from 12 to 4. He enjoys being a dad so much, he used his computer skills to create a website www.notbadforadad.com just to share the joys of fatherhood with other dads.

AN AT-HOME DAD POINT OF VIEW

“Times have changed… unless you’re talking about the popular media’s portrayal of dads staying at home,” says Stuart Ungar, from Louiseville, KY, founder of Louiseville At-Home Dads. He’s concerned that people will see dads as less capable then moms, which will reflect poorly on at-home fathers.

“Most at-home dads are all for pointing out the contributions of moms and drawing attention to the importance of a parent staying home when possible. It just shouldn’t be at the expense of dads who have consciously made the choice to be stay-at-home parents,” says Ungar, father of Aaron, 6 and Eden, 3.

“The problem is that many people tend to generalize that being at home with kids is naturally the mom’s job and that the dad is just a poor substitute,” he adds. He says the network reality series, Meet Mr. Mom, does everything to reinforce that.

“Insulting name for a real silly show,” says Ungar.

NBC’S TAKE

NBC acknowledges that before the show aired it received complaints from stay-at-home-dad groups concerned about how fathers were going to be portrayed.

The network today said it had not received any complaints since the program aired. NBC says the show gives everyone a better impression of at-home dads, because the show helps everyone appreciate the difficultly of being an at-home parent–no matter what the sex.

The network is proud of the show because it helps bring families closer together. And it gives both parents and the children a greater appreciation of one another.

LEARNING THE TOUGHEST WAY POSSIBLE

There were no cameras to chronicle what Jim Morey and his family experienced earlier this year. His wife’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, and he found himself taking on an even greater role in the home. Because while she cared for her mom, he cared for the children.

“It was during those four months that I truly became aware of how much work it is EVERY day to keep the family wheels running smoothly,” says Morey.

His mother-in-law lost her battle with cancer in April.

“I have always told my wife that even though I was the one with the “job” she works MUCH, MUCH harder than I do on a daily basis,” says Morey. “The 4 months… only reinforced that fact in my mind.”

“Meet Mr. Mom” is a 6-part reality show. It airs Tuesdays at 8:00pm ET on NBC.

Strange Encounters With Hollywood Legends

January 26th, 2009

Meeting famous people is often a surreal experience for both parties. In 1956 when Elvis Presley arrived in Hollywood he and his entourage stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. One day he got into the elevator. “What floor?” asked the operator. “Tenth please.” The operator looked at him with disdain. “You can’t go up to the tenth floor. Elvis is staying there. No one is allowed there.” A bemused Presley said,” I know. I’m Elvis.” The hotel employee stared at him for a long moment then said,” Well I don’t care who you are, you can’t go to the tenth floor.” The amiable singer agreed to go to the eleventh floor and walked down the stairs to the tenth.

Some entertainment organizations are so vast that employees don’t always recognize the people at the top. Walt Disney who often was harsh with those who worked for him, had no patience for anyone at Disneyland who was rude to the customers or as he put it, the guests. One time when an unfriendly security guard prevented he and his wife Lillian from getting on a ride, Walt fired him reasoning the man would be unpleasant with others. But if someone was doing their job they had nothing to fear from the boss. Once, when Walt was on hand for a demonstration of a new ride a young girl working there chided him for lighting up a cigarette, it wasn’t allowed. Disney, who eventually died of lung cancer, asked, “Whose idea was that?” “Walt Disney’s.” Walt stubbed out the cigarette. “That’s good enough for me.”

Sometimes the famous have a difficult time not being the center of attention. Once at a party at Louis B. Mayer’s house, the mogul was expressing his admiration for a female,” The red hair, the legs, I have never seen such beauty. She walks so regally like a queen”. Greer Garson the new queen of the MGM lot was standing nearby. She walked up to Mayer’s circle and said,” Why thank you Mr. Mayer.” It turned out LB was talking about his new horse.

It’s hard sometimes for stars to remember that not everyone cares about who they are or what they are doing. One time Laurel and Hardy were filming a strange scene in Venice Beach that required the boys to run down a narrow alleyway with their wives chasing them. The women would shoot at them causing innocent men to run out of their nearby apartment buildings in their undergarments and run away, with Stan and Ollie doing double takes. Before shooting the scene Laurel gathered the extras around,” Listen fellas, it’s costing us a fortune to rent out these apartments so I want to get it right the first time. Now when you hear the shots and run out into the alley, don’t linger. We only want you in the scene for about ten seconds.” After the director shouted “ACTION!” the boys ran down the alley, their wives fired their guns, the men in their undergarments ran out and disappeared quickly following Stan’s instructions to the letter. All except one guy who was about thirty seconds late, ran the wrong way, and bumped into Laurel, ruining his close-up.”You bloody fool. You ruined the shot!” shouted Laurel. “I’m not in the movie,” replied the runner.”

Sometimes legends don’t recognize each other. After twenty years in Hollywood Alfred Hitchcock finally became super rich after producing the low budget Psycho (1960). His agent Lew Wasserman convinced him to trade the movie rights for shares of stock in Universal, making the director the third biggest owner of the studio. From then on Hitchcock loved picking up the Wall Street Journal to see if he was wealthier. While directing his last film Family Plot (1975) Hitchcock would arrive at Universal early, sit in his chair and joyfully read about Jaws (1975) which was adding millions to his stock’s value. One day his morning routine was upset by an uninvited young man hovering around the movie set. Hitchcock, who seemed to have eyes in the back of his head called a crew member to have the intruder removed. It turned out to be Jaws Director Steven Spielberg who wanted to meet his idol.

Just because you’re recognized once doesn’t mean you will continue to be. After losing his driving privileges because of drunkenness Sean Penn was forced to ride the city bus. One day another passenger came up to him. “Hey you look like Sean Penn. But I know he wouldn’t be riding a bus.” Penn replied,” How do you know? Do you know Sean Penn?” “Yeah I worked on a film he starred in.” “Oh yeah? Well, what do you think of him?”. “Oh God, he was a total $%#%!”

Online gambling basics

January 26th, 2009

Poker, black jack or any other casino game with a real fancy name, any lay man acquainted with the web knows that these are only a click away. Online gambling industry today is one with the highest growth rate. However which site to choose is definitely the biggest problem that one faces when seriously thinking about gambling online. With sites by the dozen offering “online gambling” there are other hundred offering you to start your own site, the scene can get a lot confusing.

Though site offer all traditional card games like poker and black jack and other casino games like roulette and slot machines, but the roots of internet gambling still centre around sorts betting and horse racing.

The concept is quite sensible considering that not everyone is comfortable with the terms and other nitty gritty of various dice games, while the picking the scores of a super bowl game is relatively easier.

According to various stats as published in Sports Illustrated sports betting touched as much as 1 billion $ which is 10 times the figures placed with traditional Nevada sports books. Betting on horses is also hugely facilitated by theses sites as while all major races are broadcasted on major television channels and other programmes cover highlights of the races, but getting on the tracks can get difficult, if you do not live in a state where the tracks are located.

While the federal wire act1961 made it illegal to use telephone to place bets, thus driving the prospective gamblers from other states out of luck, however the arrival of internet on the horizon changed the scene.

Popularity gained by poker in the recent years has been another reason for the success of online gaming in the recent years. Te success of the Travel Channel’s World Poker Tour program and ESPN’s World Series of Poker, have pushed other channels also to start airing these shows.

Poker though may easily be the most successful online gamble game but sites are trying to popularise the real games like black jack and slots by vigorous advertising which includes bulk email advertising. The emails sent by Golden Palace.com, one virtual casino offers as much as 58 casino games, meanwhile offering chat rooms and other premium services.

Interestingly online betting is not the only way to spend money. There are industry sites such as the River City Group, based in Missouri open for subscription starting from$245.Those not ready to spend money right away there are fee software to be downloaded to play poker or other games. There also are free practise areas to learn and play for free. However the catch lies in the fact that success in these free areas are a sure invitation to the real gaming world, where however winning is not so easy. The odds might be against you but in the world of software tricksters it’s always easy to make a winning way out. So online gambling in fact a contest between the owner and the player. But in either case it’s the winner who gets it all.

Dance Auditions

January 24th, 2009

Just like a job “interview” for a position in the business world, a dance audition is the opportunity for you to market yourself and your talents. As most dancers who are auditioning along with you will be talented enough to get the job, what will help you to be the stand-out among them?

One of the first things you need to have is an updated resume and headshot. Make sure you list every dancing job you’ve had, no matter how small. You don’t need to spend a fortune on pictures. A not too posed black and white shot, 8×10 should suffice. Remember to keep your hair and make up simple. You want to shine and keep the focus on yourself, not your jewelry. Make sure you carry an extra copy of your resume and headshot with you, just in case.

Remain focused at all times and don’t stop reaching to fulfill your dream. How many times have you heard the story of persistence paying off? Sometimes the only real difference between those that fail and those that succeed is persistence. It’s like a fighter who gets hit, falls on the mat, and then gets up again. Many times you’re going to audition for the same directors and choreographers. You’re not going to be perfect for every show, but you just might be perfect for an upcoming one, and you’ll want to make sure that you’re remembered. Make sure that the director sees how interested you are.

Your interaction with your peers is also of great importance. Remember that you’re being watched from the minute you walk in the door of an audition. How do you interact with others? Do you smile and make eye contact? Do you appear confident, positive and focused? Do you keep a sense of good-humor about you?

Don’t forget to take care of yourself on a regular basis. A good diet, exercise, plenty of sleep and relaxation will help keep you in peak physical condition so you’ll be ready for the next audition.

Online Gaming Keeps Risk Takers in Their Homes

January 23rd, 2009

Some gamers may recently have read the expression “offshore sports betting”, though some might not be altogether clear on what it indicates. A foreign gaming website in effect works extrinsically to the control of a particular country or it could also be a live sports betting web site running their central computers inside a country where live wagering is not outlawed. Briefly therefore, it is a gambling organization doing business extraneous to the state of the better. Internet based betting websites are in the main regulated via 3 organizations. These are dubbed OSGA (the Offshore Gaming Association), IGC (Interactive Gaming Council) and the Fidelity Trust Gaming Association (the FTGA).

The OSGA is a self ordering watch-dog authority that keeps checks on the current overseas gambling industry, they strive to grant sports betters the means to swiftly discover honest companies to play gambling games on, without stress. It strives to look after the rights of gambling devotees, and also they do not impose any membership dues.

The Offshore Gaming Association are a professional not to mention objective third party company who convey neutral opinions, suggested by your evaluations, independent analysis, telephone discussions, inside prompts and also provides inside gossip.

The Interactive Gaming Council are a non commercially influenced administration. The agency has been founded to provide a forum for involved participants to address controversies and in addition to further common interests in the world-wide interactive gambling profession, to ensure honest and also amenable professional standards and practices which heighten buyer certainty in online betting commodities and services, and also to work as the overseas gaming industry’s inclusive procedure representative and the IGC also supplies a data base.

The IGC has built a reputation for advocating trustworthiness, consistency and credibility due to the standards it stands for, and in addition its appeal for businesses of exemplary standing. The IGC influences offshore gaming by means of advocating an original 10-step code of conduct and also bills betting businesses a fee for publishing the council’s logo. Disappointed clients can additionally mention their challenges to the IGC.

The Fidelity Trust Gaming Association has been set up in a venture to compose a benchmark which will upgrade the transactions of on-line betting commercial enterprises. The Interactive Gaming Council trust that by affiliating with respected businesses, they can hammer out a membership of the fairest and professional online gaming businesses world-wide.

There are organizations who co-ordinate the conduct practised by internet gaming and which should work to allay any misgivings due to the apprehension held by skeptics. Live sports gaming web sites are now consistently dependable, in that personal details are no longer a requirement and also the recompense and the odds are invariably just as balanced and reasonable as in common Vegas-type sports bet. They cut back on traveling time, but keep of a casino, only today you are in a position to wager in your own house.

Is “Tickle” the Future of the Movie Industry?

January 19th, 2009

August 24, 2020 - The first full-length animated movie with realistic-looking humans, “Tickle” opens tonight. It is an intriguing thriller about a woman who gets framed by her husband, but the most intriguing is to see if you can spot the difference between real actors and these created by computers.

Computer animation has developed a lot since the first full-length movie “Toy Story” in 1995, and the first attempt of a full-length movie with humans “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” in 2001. The challenge and difficulties to create humans in animation lies mainly in the eye of the beholder, since we are so trained to see human behavior, movements, facial expressions etc.

Many people state that this is the future of the movie industry, since you don’t have to pay actors US$ 25 million to appear in a movie, you can just license his face as a trademark if you like and let the computers do the rest. However, there is still some time left before this type of movies will save money for the studios; the budget for “Tickle” was about US$ 190 million.

They have also taken the opportunity it gives to re-create actors that are no longer active. A lot of effort was made to give a supporting role to the like of James Dean, a successful movie star that was tragically killed in a car accident 65 years ago. However, all resemblance between the tall homosexual clerk with the high-pitched voice saying “I’ll be back” and the former action hero of the 1990s Arnold Schwarzenegger, is purely coincidental according to the director.

So, to the big question, can you see that the movie is only made by computers with no real actors? Well, go and see for yourself tonight!

Celtic Jewelry: Ancient Symbolism in Popular Fashion

January 19th, 2009

The mysterious and the mystical have always had the power to hold human beings in thrall throughout the millennia. Celtic jewelry is no exception to this, since they are an extension and a reminder of the traditions and rituals of the Celts, an ancient European people. Today, men and women of all ages wear Celtic jewelry not only for their beauty, but also for their symbolism and metaphysical connotations.

Also popularly — though inaccurately — known as Claddagh jewelry, Celtic designs are appreciated for their intricacy and beauty. Numerous patterns of Celtic origin, such as the spiral and the cross, are used by jewelers in their creations. The Celtic spiral symbolizes eternity and is used abundantly in many Celtic jewelry items today. Just as popular is the Celtic cross, which pre-dates the Christian cross by about two centuries. The Celtic cross is thought to bring greater knowledge, understanding and the fortitude to deal with trials and adversities, as compared to the Christian cross, which is believed to protect the wearer from harm.

Claddagh rings and bracelets are two more examples of popular Celtic jewelry items that are replete with symbolism. Rings that have the Celtic knot design symbolize eternal and undying love; this is why they are exchanged by the bride and groom in present day wedding ceremonies - to signify their fidelity and never-ending commitment to each other. Such rings and bracelets are also given to friends as an indication of loyalty.

Necklaces and pendants are likewise integral parts of a Celtic jewelry collection. Depending on the wearer’s preferences, the pendant may depict the image of Celtic figures such as the ever-popular knot, spiral, Celtic cross, serpent or dragon. Such symbols have deep spiritual and religious meaning, and it is one of the main reasons why Celtic jewelry items are popular dress accessories today.

A person does not have to be Irish or Scottish or to have any other Celtic connection in order to appreciate Celtic jewelry. Whether given as gifts or maintained as personal keepsakes, these unique pieces can be enjoyed just for their beauty alone. But a little awareness of their meaning, as well as their place in history and tradition add to their air of enigma and allure.

Discover the Real Bush War (Part I)

January 16th, 2009

Is war inevitable! Are you “for” or “against” military action? What of the UN? Discover facts about: the Gulf War, US support of Saddam Hussein in the Iraq-Iran War (1980-88), and US involvement with Bin Laden and the “Afghan Jihad” (1979-89).
As I sit down and write this article on Tuesday Night February 18, 2003 from my office in Germany, the Bush (or Bush/Blair) War appears inevitable. Why is this?

Is it time to bash President Bush and his policies? Or should we chant Bush slogans?

Bush stated in his recent State of the Union, “We are called to defend the safety of our people, and the hopes of all mankind. And we accept this responsibility.” Do you believe that it is America’s responsibility to protect so-called FREEDOMS for the entire world? Many might remember the United State’s embarrassing role in the Nicaraguan civil war, or even Vietnam!

As an online reader, you, like everyone else has probably already chosen sides. Are you “pro” or “anti” the Bush War? Whether you gravitate towards 1) espousing Bush’s war rhetoric in protecting America’s freedoms, or 2) you agree that UN weapons inspectors should continue with their job, I ask that you temporarily back away from any forlorn conclusions and discover the REAL BUSH WAR.

Ultimately, the Bush War — like so many wars — is about money and power. This goes much deeper than oil! I would like to take a brief journey through both recent and ancient history and discuss the foundation of Bush’s beliefs. We all know that he believes in Iraq’s regime change and this means war. As we unravel the situation, you just might discover facts that you did not know before, along with historical realities you have not thought so much about.

FACT: On Friday February 14, 2003 the United Nations’ 15 member Security Council agreed to continue the weapons inspection, ruling out the use of military force. France, Russia, and China, along with Germany, the Vatican and rulers of many other countries are overwhelmingly against the Bush War.

FACT: The US led the Gulf War with Iraq in 1991. Kuwait was a part of southern Iraq through most of the Islamic Ottoman Empire spanning from 1290-1923. The national boundaries making Kuwait and Iraq into separate countries were primarily established after World War II when the British released most of their imperialistic territories. As always, Britain and other allies tried to hold on to economic (oil) interests by establishing pro-British leaders. Petroleum is Kuwait’s primary natural resource. Kuwait is one of the tiniest countries (about 120 x 110 miles) but owns approximately 10% of the world’s oil reserves. The per person GNP is higher than Italy, Israel, and more than 10 times Iraq. (According to the 2000 GNP report of the World Bank and OECD, Kuwait has $19,040 per person versus $1650 for Iraqis.)

Before making a value judgement on Saddam Hussein’s principles for taking over Kuwait in 1990, I could listen to both viewpoints dealing with oil, territorial boundaries, debt, Israel, UN favoritism, and other issues. Regardless of an opinion on Iraq and those countries for or against Iraq’s takeover of Kuwait, the UN Security Council passed their resolution on November 29, 1990. Member states could “use all necessary means” to force Iraq from Kuwait, if Iraq did not depart by January 15, 1991.

FACT: The government of the United States provided weapons and support to Iraq during the Iraq-Iran War of 1980-1988.

Rather than detail this war, it is known that the United States was against the Iranian regime change of 1979. The Shah of Iran was overthrown because of his corruption and ties to the US and western powers which primarily revolved around Iranian oil fields. The Shiite Muslim leader Ayatollah Khomeini took over and severed any interactions with the US and western powers. Fearing that the US would intervene and reestablish the Shah who fled to the US, Iranian students took 66 American hostages from the US Embassy. It was during this Iran Hostage Crisis that the US supported Saddam Hussein in Iraq attacking Iran.

FACT: America provided Bin Laden and the “Afghan Jihad” fighters with weapons and military training!

The US used their weapons and military technologies to fight against Russian Communists in their war against Afghanistan from 1979-1989. In other words, in an indirect way, certain American policies led to the terrorist attacks of September 11th. After the Afghan war was over, what would these Muslim, US-trained soldiers do? They had to fight for some cause! Bin Laden happened to inspire the soldiers to fight against the spread of Americanism and western culture which seemed to go against Islamic values.

The first few facts can be read in many history books about modern Middle East. Interpretations of the events will vary though. To help establish the US and Bin Laden, I will quote from the introduction of my current book, “Love Your Neighbors? Discover the Real World Religions.”

[The situation concerning the 1993 WTC bombing and events behind the September 11th attacks are more complex than most recognize. In order to “fight” against communism, three presidential administrations (Carter, Ford and Reagan) performed covert activities through the CIA. A key element was to train Islamic men in the war against the communists in Afghanistan (1979-89), aptly referred to as the “Afghan jihad,” the holy war in Afghanistan. America’s activities helped establish the Taliban regime and allowed bin Laden to gain his supporters. Bin Laden stated: “To counter these atheist Russians, the Saudis chose me as their representative in Afghanistan. … I settled in Pakistan in the Afghan border region. There I received volunteers who came from the Saudi Kingdom and from all over the Arab and Muslim countries. I set up my first camp where these volunteers were trained by Pakistani and American officers. The weapons were supplied by the Americans, the money by the Saudis. I discovered that it was not enough to fight in Afghanistan, but that we had to fight on all fronts, communist or Western oppression.” (Ahmed Rashid, Taliban: Militant Islam, Oil and Fundamentalism in Central Asia, Yale University Press: New Haven, 1999, p. 132) It was, “A strange love affair which went disastrously wrong: the alliance, during the second half of the twentieth century, between the United States of America and some of the most conservative and fanatical followers of Islam.” (John K. Cooley, Unholy Wars: Afghanistan, America and International Terrorism, Pluto Press: London, 1999, p. 1) See the books quoted from more information.]

I hope that the facts I have presented are stimulating enough to open the pathways of discovery. Stay tuned to your ezine or magazine for my next sections of “Discover the Real Bush War!” After this introductory article, I will go to the imperialistic mindset Bush adopts in his War. The follow up article will go from a comment made by a prior United States Secretary of State only yesterday, all the way back to Plato and his Republic. Discover why Bush is choosing to spend trillions of dollars and multiply the US deficit (what you and your children will have to pay back). Here I will trace the economic theorist John Keynes, who was a British delegate at the UN’s Bretton Woods Conference in 1944. This was what led to the creation of the IMF (International Monetary Fund).
