What have I been reading of late, What I believe around twitter and why blogging is the best.

June 27th, 2009

I have been taking in a lot of great new blogs of late. I am still waiting to decide about all the twitter tizzy. I still enjoy blogs and have over 1000 in my feed reader.

The cool thing about blogs is that you can find hidden treasures, and they are from individuals that actually like to can write.

Sure you can chance some groovy individuals on twitter. But, seriously, twitter is for people with add or who dont like to write normal posts. Yes, heaps of people twitter and also blog, and those people are stylish by me, but I am perpetually and perpetually a blog devotee.

Blogs force the author to actually articluate their opinion. Twitter on the other hand merely permits you to state it. Call me old fashioned but I believe there is a point where smaller is no longer easier. We have been obsessed with miniturization for so long. Specially when it comes to technology. Surely there has to be a point where we take in substance matters. Value matters. What do you suppose?

Maybe the actual answer dwells in balance. And compromise. You cannot squeeze people to have substance and not be shallow. But, too possibly you need to drive the neo libral hippies to lighten up a fraction too?

Urgent: Hydroxycut Lawsuits Have Already Been Entered

June 27th, 2009

On May 1, 2009, there was a recall of 14 Hydroxycut diet-aid products coming from a number of reports that people using the products were developing serious liver issues and other health worries. Less than seven days later, on May 4, the first Hydroxycut class action lawsuit was filed against the company that manufactures the products, Iovate Medical Sciences. The Hydroxycut Case alleges company failure in informing the public about potential hazards of the products. Naturally, it’s too soon to understand the suit is going to turn out, but if the company had information which it didn’t divulge to buyers, it should definitely be held accountable.

A class action legal action is filed by a bunch of folks, all of whom have similar claims against a certain company. Filing a class action is just as effective, and far less dear, than filing an individual suit. As a rule, filing a class action lawsuit won’t cost anything unless there’s a settlement. At that time, the lawyer who handled the suit will take his charges from the compensation that got given and then assign the leftover funds to the accusers in the case. Since this is the case, you will be ready to file a Hydroxycut class action suit without paying a penny out of your own pocket, which is one of the reasons that class action suits became so popular.

The initial class action legal action against Iovate was filed in Canada where the company is located and represents all Canadian voters who sustained health issues due to Hydroxycut products. The FDA recall occurred in the US where 23 cases of liver disorders and other health problems had been reported. Health Canada did not receive any reports of liver damage due to the diet products, but they did receive 17 reports concerning folks who sustained respiration, neurological, heart, and stomach problems as a result of Canadians using the products.

The Hydroxycut Lawsuit alleges that the products without correctly informing the general public of the public of the health risks that they could exposing consumers to. The complaint states that the company failed to publish the data on the product labels saying that users could run the chance of liver and kidney damage as well as stomach, heart, respiration, and neurological issues. The suit goes on to claim this was a blatant omission on the part of the company which deliberately misled clients concerning the safety of the products.

Investing in Wine Might Pay Dividends Now

June 26th, 2009

Had this report appeared six months ago, it would have provided some very sober reading for wine investors. Not least because the end of 2008 coincided with the first significant correction in the fine wine market for more than a decade. Now investing in wine looks like it might pay dividends

During the first half of 2008, Liv-ex, an index of the top 100 investable wines, climbed by a steady and impressive 9.5 per cent before stalling during the summer. In the final quarter of 2008 it fell by nearly 25 per cent; in October it lost more than 12 per cent of its value - the biggest monthly movement since its inception in 2001.

There are no prizes for guessing why. Despite the fact that the fine wine market had seemed impressively impervious to the hurricane blowing through the financial markets for most of last year, it clearly could not remain immune indefinitely. The collapse of Lehman Brothers was the turning point, as many private and institutional investors desperately sought to avoid losses in the ensuing dash for cash.

They were not the only ones looking to liquidate their wine holdings: merchants had seen the writing on the wall and had already begun to empty their inventories. Distressed sellers and restaurants also started offloading, while a number of wine funds found themselves on the receiving end of growing numbers of redemptions.

Never before had such a flood of investment-grade wine appeared on the market simultaneously. At one stage, it seemed to almost grind to a halt as prices tumbled.

The wines that lost the most value were, of course, those clarets that had gained the most in the bull run of the previous two years. Initially, that meant the top 2005s, which had surged in price and were in plentiful supply. Some prices fell by up to 50 per cent.

However, as things got worse, it was not just the 2005s that started to feel the pressure. Older vintages such as the 2003s and 2000s were also sucked in, as forced sellers continued to dump stock.

The contagion also spread to rarer and more mature vintages, pulling down prices of 1996s and the 1990s in their wake.

Top Questions to Ask Personal Trainers

June 15th, 2009

Hiring a personal trainer is one good way to benefit from working out in the briefest amount of time. A personal trainer will produce a program that is made for your fitness level and goals. But finding a personal trainer that is qualified, and that can motivate you in the way that you need, can be hard. Here are five issues to cover with prospective trainers, and yourself, so you can determine the right trainer for you.

A Book Cover Doesn’t Lie
Let’s face it, a personal trainer should be in shape. If they can’t motivate themselves, chances are, it’s doubtful they can motivate you. While a trainer doesn’t have to be Mr. Olympia, they should be obviously physically fit and have scores of energy.

Training
Anyone can call themselves a personal trainer, there are no licensing programs, but plenty of certification options. Ask for a copy of your trainers certification or diploma, and research the organization or school. Every trainer should definitely also have CPR and first aid training.

References
Find a couple of old customers to ask questions about the trainer. See if they lost the weight they desired to, if the trainer was responsible, how any problems were managed, and specific problems with not reaching goals. Most trainers will only send you to positive references, so you also need to ask the trainer about problems they’ve had, and how they handled them. Every business has problem clients, so they should be able to answer.

Training Philosophy
Do you want a soft spoken trainer? An army drill sergeant? Or are you self motivated? Finding a personal trainer that motivates you to the next level will depend on how well your personalities mesh.

Pricing and Policies
Pricing is often thought to be the most important inquiry, but ask about cancellation policies if you or the trainer has to reschedule, what types of payments they accept, and what happens if you are sick or injured. The most expensive trainer isn’t always the greatest, and the least expensive may be cheap for a reason, so weigh the fees beside the other responses you’ve acquired.

Millions of People Every Week Prefer to Use Identical Numbers for Their Entries! Which in Some Countries Will Only Cover a Part of Any Possible Lottery Selection

June 14th, 2009

Can you crack the code applying your own extraordinary strategy or rely on an e-lottery syndicate to choose them on your behalf? We unrealistically believe that if we do not do anything or sometimes do it the wrong way that something bad may happen, in this case; if we miss doing our numbers that week they are sure to come up!

A Large amount of individuals every week decide to use the same lottery numbers for their entries; quite often these are memorable dates in history, which in some lottos will only cover a part of any possible lotto choices.

Being the person to decide on the lotto winning numbers is by nature something every dedicated player wishes they could do and as humans, we all possess a natural bias against anything thats random, we like some form of control and conventions that make sense to us.

So your lotto number comes up more often; that does not mean to say it will come up again! its impossible to choose any set of lottery numbers that are likely to win. Lotteries are a game of pure chance and every lotto number picked is merely at is hit-or-miss. So the bottom line in that respect is - no one number is more random than the next.

If you take a look at the chances of probability, as one lottery number is drawn the likelihood of your chosen number going to be picked next is slightly increased purely because the possible choice is less.

If you choose the same numbers each and every week, just remember they are still hit-and-miss lotto numbers and you stand just as much a probability of winning with those same numbers as with a lucky dip option. Still, if you use birthday numbers in a lotto draw your prospects of winning the jackpot still stay the same but then, likewise your particular chance of keeping the jackpot to yourself is significantly reduced because so many other players use birthday numbers in their choices.

Utilizing the same lotto numbers would mean you will have to play 135,000 times to even get an evens chance of winning. Unluckily, to win the lotto jackpot you only have more or less a 1 in 14 million chance of being successful; nonetheless we all think it could be us. Does that sound like a good prospect; would you be luckier joining up to a lotto syndicate?

Tips from a San Diego Video Production: Pre-interview Your Subjects

June 8th, 2009

One of the best ways to improve your on-camera interviews is by conducting mini-interviews with your subjects before the camera rolls. This was really helpful for a recent San Diego video production. An apprehensive, nervous CEO became a solid, confident presenter on tape largely because our producer spent time preparing him.

Ideally, this is done in person with the subject a few weeks or days before your video production. That way, they’ll become comfortable with your interview style and you’ll have an idea what they’ll look and sound like on tape. It will also give you an opportunity to evaluate their chances of performing as required for the program. It may be possible to schedule some quick media training or suggest other ways to enhance their performance. This could include the addition of a teleprompter or a hair/makeup stylist.

If time doesn’t permit a personal visit, a phone conversation is the next best thing. This is when you can determine whether your subject is long-winded, lacks energy, etc., so that you can find a better interview subject. You can help your subject to be succinct and clear (i.e., “Am I understanding you correctly when you say…” or “Do you mean to say…”). It will also give you the chance to help the subject gather their thoughts. Busy professionals often wait until the last minute to scan briefing notes and then sit down and want the interview over in five minutes. The client then wonders why the program wasn’t successful.

Pre-interviews can also help you formulate better questions because you’ll know what your subject is going to say. At the very least, take a few minutes before the camera rolls, while the crew is setting up, for a mini pre-interview to find out what your subject will say and to help him or her relax. The worst thing to do is to sit in the room during setup. There are too many distractions. The client will be listening to where the audio guy went on vacation instead of discussing the subject at hand with you. This is the time to take control, isolate the client from handlers if possible, and accomplish your goal of making the subject comfortable with you and their material.
