Beyonce Postpones Tour

October 23rd, 2009

US singer Beyonce has postponed a planned concert in Malaysia following accusations by Islamic conservatives that the show would be immoral.

The Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party called for the show in Kuala Lumpur to be scrapped because it would promote “Western sexy performances.”

Organisers said the concert, which was due to be held on 25 October, would be postponed “to a future date”.

Beyonce previously called off a 2007 concert over the country’s dress code.

“The postponement is solely [the] decision of the artiste and has nothing to do with other external reasons,” organisers Marctensia said in a statement.

It added a statement from Beyonce’s management would be released later this week.

Last month, Marctensia addressed concerns the singer might wear inappropriate outfits, saying “all parties have come to an amicable understanding” about stage costumes.

After shelving her 2007 concert, Beyonce instead performed in Indonesia, where rules governing stage performances are more relaxed.

The Pussycat Dolls were fined for flouting decency laws in 2006

Female performers at Malaysian concerts are required by government rules to cover up from the shoulders to knees, with no cleavage showing.

Other female pop stars such as Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani have performed in Malaysia despite similar protest threats by conservative Muslims. Both singers wore clothes that revealed little skin.

October 23rd, 2009

Raise your chances of success at your job job interview by learning what you must do when in front of the job interview panel:

To begin with, be punctual. First impressions count, and you can’t afford to turn up late. Decide how you are going to arrive at the interview centre 10 to 15 minutes ahead of time. That way, you won’t be so stressed as you enter the interview.

Dress fittingly for the interview. A key part of your image management is the way in which you dress yourself. Present yourself as professional candidate is confident and capable of the role that you are applying for.

You must not allow silly things to get in the way of the notion that you want to portray. Do not forget to turn your mobile phone off and please dont go in with your sunglasses still on.

Be confident in your introduction. Smile and state your name confidently as you shake the interviewers hands with a decent grip. If you smile, you will appear confident to the interview board - even if you do not feel it.

You shouldn’t stare at the interview panel member, but you should spend a fair amount of time looking the in the eye when you are talking. If you are faced with an job interview board - then spend the majority of your time engaging the eye contact of your primary questioner, but glance at the others to acknowledge them too.

Use open body language, to have an empowering effect on the job interview board. Note how you behave during an interview and adjust to demonstrate that you are listening and interested in the post. Sit up in your chair, but lean forward slightly. Keep your hands calm and not waving around or fiddling with your hair. Try to avoid habits such as repetitive, foot tapping or tongue clicking. You will be worried during your interview, just try not to make it obvious.

Hopefully, these tactics will help you be successful in your interview.
